Asheville, NC

Breweries, bites, and mountain views in western North Carolina.

A quick guide to some favorite spots in Asheville—breweries, restaurants, and things to see in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Bars & Restaurants

Antidote at Chemist Spirits

Great cocktail spot.

  • Address: 151 Coxe Ave, Asheville, NC 28801
  • Website: antidote.bar

Plant

One of my all-time favorite restaurants—and it's vegan. Located between downtown and the Grove Park Inn, so it's close but probably not walkable from the center.

Sovereign Remedies

Great cocktails near the center of town, though it was quiet last time I visited.

Sierra Nevada

Yes, that Sierra Nevada. A massive brewery and restaurant—seriously impressive and worth the 30-minute drive south of town.

  • Address: 100 Sierra Nevada Way, Mills River, NC 28732
  • Website: sierranevada.com

Breweries

Burial Beer Co (Forestry Camp)

Fantastic venue with great food and amazing drinks. Down the street from Biltmore.

  • Address: 40 Collier Ave, Asheville, NC 28801
  • Website: burialbeer.com

Wedge Brewing

Multiple locations around town. The Paynes Way spot is in the arts district with only outside seating—funky vibe.

  • Paynes Way: 37 Paynes Way, Suite 001, Asheville, NC 28801
  • Foundry Street: 5 Foundry Street, Asheville, NC 28801
  • Page Avenue: 1 Page Avenue, Suite 152, Asheville, NC 28801
  • Website: wedgebrewing.com

Zillicoah Beer Co

River's edge spot a little north of town.

Highland Brewing

An OG in Asheville and a great spot.

  • Address: 12 Old Charlotte Highway, Suite 200, Asheville, NC 28803
  • Website: highlandbrewing.com

Sights & Shops

The Biltmore

Expensive, but worth it—especially if you do the audio tour.

  • Address: 1 Lodge St, Asheville, NC 28803
  • Website: biltmore.com

The Grove Park Inn

Whether you stay there or not, it's a really neat place to visit and eat.

Mt. Mitchell State Park

Tallest peak east of the Mississippi. You can drive nearly the whole way there—maybe a 10-minute paved walk to the summit. Right off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  • Address: 2388 NC-128, Burnsville, NC 28714
  • Website: ncparks.gov

River Arts District

Great area, but kind of spread out. There are little pockets you can hit, or be prepared to hop back in the car for short drives between them.

Downtown Asheville

Loaded with walkable things. Broadway, Lexington, and Patton are the main thoroughfares.
